24 year old Angharad Harries went to the Hughes’ for work experience five years ago and she never left. This isn’t a surprise given her talent and the fabulous opportunities she has been given. On the 28th Feb Angharad competed in her first Grand Prix with Rubini Royale owned by Lorraine Sattin, just two weeks later at Myerscough premier league the pair came 2nd in the Grand Prix freestyle with 68.79%. Angharad also had success with one of the Hughes’ younger horses Classic Diamond in one of the young horse classes and Claire Gordon’s horse Be Mine (Frankie) in the PSG class.
Angharad also competes her own 8 year old mare Gayla. Gayla has a big personality and can be a bit of a diva but Angharad is successfully competing her up through the levels, winning a national title at the winter championships in 2018 she has plans to train her all the way up to Grand Prix. We have watched this partnership in action and just like Rebecca and Gareth, Angharad’s riding is polished and a pleasure to watch!
Angharad told us about how great the in-house team at the Hughes’ are and that she is learning so much from Head Girl Stephanie Sharples. As well as the riding Angharad has also just come back from grooming at Le mans and learning about the international competition scene. With the wealth of knowledge from her trainers and the team at home she is definitely one to watch!
